Clinical Psychologist

Sarah is a registered Clinical Psychologist, board approved supervisor and member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

She provides individual therapy and has been practicing psychology for more than 18 years.

Perinatal and Maternal Mental Health

Sarah has a special interest in supporting those experiencing perinatal mental health concerns and parents who are struggling with their mental health at any stage of their parenting journey.

This includes individuals who have difficulties with:

  • fertility
  • pregnancy
  • birth
  • parenting
  • perinatal depression/anxiety
  • adjusting to parenthood
  • bonding with your baby
  • navigating relationship challenges as family structures change
  • birth trauma.

Sarah also has experience working with those who have had a pregnancy and/or infant loss.

  • Excessive, persistent and generalised worry and fear, primarily focused on the health and well-being of the baby
  • Mood swings, irritability, feeling sad, lowered mood, crying for no obvious reason, restless, feeling constantly “on edge”, anger
  • Decreased motivation
  • Development of obsessive or compulsive thoughts and/or behaviours
  • Reduced interest in activities that usually bring joy
  • Withdrawing or feeling isolated from friends and family
  • Issues with concentrating and focusing
  • Thoughts of death and dying, or intrusive thoughts around harm to self or baby
  • Sleep problems unrelated to the baby’s sleep
  • Self-confidence and self-esteem issues
  • Appetite changes (increased or decreased appetite)
  • Fear of being alone with your baby
  • Increased sensitivity to noise and touch

Further to this work, Sarah has a keen interest in supporting those individuals who are neurodivergent (ASD and ADHD) and adopts a neuroaffirming and trauma informed lens in her therapeutic approach.
Sarah can also support adults and older adolescents experiencing the following mental health concerns;

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Adjustment issues
  • Complex and developmental trauma
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Grief and Loss
  • Chronic stress and burnout

Sarah works collaboratively with clients to develop a thorough understanding of their concerns and offers a compassionate, supportive, and warm approach. Sarah holds the family system in mind throughout treatment. Sarah adopts a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches in her work, including:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  • Schema Therapy (ST)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Referrals and Fees

Referrals

A referral is not required to attend sessions. You may be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP.

If you have Private Health Insurance, you may be able to access a rebate through your fund. Please check with your private health fund to confirm any rebates available to you. 

You are not able to claim both a Medicare rebate and a private health fund rebate for the same session.

Fees and rebates

Sarah charges a fee of $195 per 50 minute session ($210 on a Saturday). A reduced rate of $175 is available for concession card holders and those experiencing financial hardship.

With a valid MHCP, you will receive a Medicare rebate of $137.05 for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

PVCP is a private clinic and as such we are not able to bulk bill sessions. Clients will be required to pay the fees outlined above for sessions.

Cancellation policy

PVCP requires 48 hours notice to reschedule or cancel your appointment. This is to ensure that we have sufficient notice to offer this time to other clients also in need of support.

If you do not attend your scheduled appointment or fail to give 48 hours’ notice, you will be charged a fee for this session. Please also be aware that you will not be able to claim rebates through Medicare or private health insurance for fees related to cancelled or unattended appointments.

Sarah offers appointments in person at the clinic, as well as via Telehealth. ​

Appointments are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
